Parents, I hope you all are enjoying your summer. I wanted to let you know about some dates you will want to add to your calendar as well as some other important information.
-
New Family Information Night will be Tuesday, July 29th at 6 PM in the VAJH Cafeteria. We will provide basic information about our school policies and procedures, as well as provide a quick tour around the building. (This is the same presentation from the incoming 6th grade parent night back in May.)
-
Schedule Pickup will be on Wednesday, August 6th during the following times:
- Morning: 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM
- Afternoon: 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM
Please note that 7th graders who do not have their immunization records on file will NOT be able to receive their schedule. Ensure that your student’s vaccinations are up to date before August 1st to ensure they can get their schedule.
-
Meet the Teacher Night will be Wednesday, August 6th from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Students will need to have updated shot records to our school office in early August to be able to receive a class schedule. This particularly pertains to incoming 7th grade students, because they have a round of booster shots due around the age of 12.
-
The first day of school is Wednesday, August 13th. The first bell rings at 8:00 and the tardy bell will ring at 8:05 a.m. School will be released at 3:40.
-
Preliminary Scores: Scores will be available in Parent Portal beginning on the following:
TELPAS Alt - 4/28
STAAR Alt 2 - 6/24
STAAR - 6/17
For your convenience, I have attached the 2025-2026 school supply lists, as well as our school dress code. These items should come in handy as you are shopping for back-to-school supplies and clothes. The two major dress code offenses we deal with are short length (shorts/skirts have to be longer than fingertip length when hands are rested by student's side), and leggings and yoga pants. Leggings and yoga pants can only be worn if a shirt, dress, skirt, or shorts that meet the school dress code length is longer than fingertip length when worn over them. Thank you for your help with these dress code issues.
Please check the VAJH Facebook page (Van Alstyne Junior High 7-8) for more information throughout the year. Enjoy time with your families, and we look forward to seeing everyone at the end of the summer!
