Van Alstyne Junior High School would like to make our community aware of an activity that will be taking place on campus on March 12th as part of our 8th Grade United States History classes.

Students will be participating in a Civil War Living History presentation presented by historical reenactors. During this educational demonstration, students will observe period uniforms, equipment, military drills, and learn about the daily life of soldiers during the Civil War era.

As part of the presentation, blank charges may be fired from a cannon and/or muskets. These demonstrations do not involve live ammunition; however, they may produce loud noises at times during the school day. All demonstrations will follow strict safety protocols and will be supervised by school staff.

We wanted to share this information with our community so everyone is aware of what is taking place on campus as our students engage in this hands-on learning experience. Thank you for your continued support of our school and students.
